Low poly baobab tree, built to your size

The upside-down tree, with a swollen trunk under a sparse crown of thick scraggly limbs. As proposed, the baobab tree is 2,695 triangles at 10.5 m, with foliage as clumps of leaves. You can take it from 7 to 14 m, and every other control stays within what a baobab tree can be.
People call the baobab the upside-down tree, because its thick, scraggly limbs look like roots. They sit in a sparse crown on top of a swollen trunk that can be wider than it is tall. It's the tree for Madagascar, for the African savanna, or for any fantasy landscape that needs one huge, unlikely tree. The builder lets this species have a far fatter trunk than any other, and the effect depends on that width.
Start with the trunk diameter, then adjust the taper so the trunk swells and then narrows into the limbs. Keep the crown sparse and the limbs thick. Baobabs usually stand alone, so it's fine to spend extra triangles on the one you place. The felled version looks like a fallen tower, and the stump is big enough to pass for a hut. The dead version barely differs from the live one, which is accurate, since a real baobab is leafless through the dry season.
What you can change
- Trunk: height, diameter, taper, sides, lean, curve and gnarl, with bark from the species' colors or any color you pick.
- Boughs: count, rings or spiral, where they leave the trunk, angle, length, thickness, curve, and twigs.
- Foliage: style, size, spread, complexity (your triangle budget) and two greens.
- Export: LOD1 and LOD2, sapling and young versions, dead, stump, felled, logs and billboards.
The export is a zip with OBJ, STL and 3MF. The OBJ uses the shared palette texture and has flat normals in the file. Models are in meters and stand at the origin, and the zip includes whichever levels of detail and other versions you select. The trees page covers the formats, and the OBJ guide covers importing.

Questions
- How many triangles is the baobab tree?
- 2,695 as proposed. The complexity slider takes it down to a few hundred or up for a hero tree, and the export adds LOD1 and LOD2.
- Can I change the height?
- Yes, between 7 and 14 m, and the trunk's diameter, taper and lean with it.
- Is it free?
- Yes. There's no account, no watermark and no limit on downloads.
- Can I use it in a commercial game?
- Everything you build here is yours. Use it in any project, commercial or not, with no attribution required.
